Technical Adviser

35 hours per week
Salary will be £36,972 per annum.

Job Purpose
To support the Director of Technical Services by providing a high quality and cost-effective support for Members in the area of technical compliance. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision of technical assistance and services to Members.
  • Provision of technical services SELECT through the Director of Technical Services
  • Assisting Director of Technical Services as required.
  • To always act according to the staff’s shared values and customer service standards.

The Technical Adviser will be based at home but is required to travel throughout Scotland (Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway) to visit Members, Prospective Members and others. They will also be required to provide training delivery, attend meetings and/or seminars as required therefore attendance at SELECT’s offices will also be necessary from time to time as required.

Employment & Skills Adviser

35 hours per week
Salary will be £32,500 per annum.

Job Purpose
To develop, support, implement and maintain key policies that will assist SELECT and SJIB Members on a wide range of employment issues and assist the Director of Employment & Skills in their delivery. 

To support the work of various Committees, including the production of accurate Agendas and Minutes. 

To provide services to the Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB), and guidance and advice to SJIB and SELECT Member Companies.

To provide administrative support for skills and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, develop and maintain key policies on a wide range of employment issues on behalf of SELECT and the SJIB and support the Director of Employment & Skills/Secretary of the SJIB in their delivery.
  • Produce updates, guidance notes, circulars and articles for use in our magazine (CABLEtalk) and our website for Member Companies on relevant topics and changes to employment law.
  • Review, develop and maintain SELECT internal Human Resource records, processes, policies and procedures.
  • Support, participate and provide administrative support for SELECT and SJIB Committees ensuring actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Support, participate and provide administrative support for skills and development work undertaken by SELECT.
  • To always act according to the staff’s shared values and customer service standards.

Employment and Skills Administrator

Salary will be £20,760 per annum.

Job Purpose
To support Members and the work of the Director of Employment and Skills and the Operations Manager to ensure the needs of the Function are delivered.

To fulfil the administration requirements of the Employment and Skills Function and the Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB), including the SJIB Apprentice and Adult Training Schemes, ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessments and ECS Cards

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration of the Final Integrated Competence Assessment (FICA).
  • Assist with the administration of SJIB Apprentice and Adult Trainee Registration.
  • Assist in the review and development of the Final Integrated Competence Assessment (FICA) and the Advanced Competence Assessment (ACA).
  • Assist in the review and development of the Crediting Electrotechnical Competence (CEC).
  • Assist with the development and delivery of the services offered by the Function.
  • Provide advice to Members, Apprentices, Operatives and any other interested party.
  • Support SELECT’s strategy of Excellence and Skills and customer service standards.
