CABLEtalk goes green for special innovation issue

Magazine for SELECT

SELECT has issued a special green energy edition of its Member magazine, CABLEtalk, which explores how innovations in renewables are reshaping the future of the electrical industry.

Entitled ‘The Future is Electric’, the current edition features 28 pages of in-depth reports, focusing on the continuing impact of, among other things, electric vehicles (EVs), hydro, solar and wind power.

Out now in print and digital formats, the magazine also switches to a one-off green cover to mark the special issue, and has been delivered in a recyclable envelope instead of the traditional polythene bag.

Iain Mason, Director of Membership and Communications at SELECT, said: “For this special edition, we wanted CABLEtalk to instantly represent renewables and green innovation. Switching to recyclable packaging also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the environment.”

With content shaped by the continuing rise of renewable technology and the importance of electricity in the world of tomorrow, the magazine features articles on EVs, pump hydro storage, wind and solar power, battery storage, smart homes, lighting innovation and training of the future.

Input comes from a number of experts and organisations such as the Energy Saving Trust, Resource Efficient Scotland and the Energy Skills Partnership, and the issue also includes interviews with SELECT Members on how they are adapting to a future that will rely heavily on renewables.

Alan Wilson, Managing Director of SELECT, said the forthcoming launch of the Energy Efficient Scotland Programme and the UN Climate Change Conference COP 26 summit in Glasgow in November is bringing such issues into focus across the industry.

He said: “There has been growing demand from Members to know more about tomorrow’s technology and how it could impact them going forward, so we felt it was important to keep them informed of the latest innovation.

“This demand has also seen SELECT offering an increasing number of renewable training courses, with EV charging installation proving extremely popular.”

CABLEtalk is the only magazine serving the electrotechnical industry in Scotland. Published every two months, it provides regular updates and insights for SELECT Members and promotes the association’s work to the wider industry.
