Building Standards Certification

Who do I give the Certificate of Construction to when I have completed the job? Your client (e.g. builder, architect, householder)

What should I give to my client?  The signed Certificate of Construction, a copy of the Checklist and the BS7671 : 2008 (17th edition) Certificate, Schedule of Inspections and Schedule(s) of Test Results

Should I complete a Checklist for every job? Only if a Building Warrent will be issued

Where should I put the ticks on the Certificate of Construction? For every Electrical Installation Job you should tick, Nature of Work, Scheme Checklist and BS Certificate
If the work also includes  Emergency Lighting Systems or Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems for dwellings to BS5839-6 or Fire Detection & Fire Alarm Systems for Buildings other than dwellings to BS5839-1 only tick these lines if this type of work is included in the job and if so put ticks in all three columns. If the work is only Electrical Installation only tick the top line and leave the others as N/A

Why can’t I change a certificate once submitted or cancelled?  Because each Certificate has a unique number and is attached to a specific building warrant.  If they could be changed the building warrant number could be amended and the Certificate issued more than once

Where can I find the building warrant number?  From your client, local authority Building Standards Department or from the website of the relevant local authority area by checking the Building Warrant applications (if the site actually shows them)

Why does my link or favourite for the website www.sec.uk.net not work any more? Because the domain name is no longer valid and all previous links will not work.  Log onto www.sbsc.uk.net
