Scottish Building Standards Certification

                              Scottish government Certification Mark

The Building (Scotland) Act 2003 introduced a new Building Standards system for Scotland that raises standards and simplifies the approval of many construction activities for the public, verifiers (local authorities) and the industry.

SELECT was the first Scheme Provider for the Certification of Construction (Electrical Installations to BS 7671) Scheme and is able to register both Approved Bodies and Approved Certifiers of Construction.

Certification of work is optional but there are benefits including reduced fees and faster acceptance of completion certificates by local authorities.

A completion certificate may be accompanied by a certificate of construction that confirms the electrical installation meets the requirements of building regulations.

This section explains the background to certification and the benefits of using an Approved Certifier of Construction on a project which requires a building warrant. Please use the menu on the right to find out more.

If you are interested in becoming an Approved Body or Certifier under this scheme go to the Scottish Building Standards Certification (SBSC) website.
